Starting a new business is exciting and rewarding, but it's also full ofman with laptop in hand  challenges. It takes a lot of hard work.

Things you need to think about when starting a business include:

  • Location- are you going to work from home or rent a building or office?
  • Product- are you selling a product or service?  Have you done any  research to find out if people will buy your product? Why should people buy your product rather than another one?
  • Price- how much will your product cost? Is this more or less than other products?
  • Employees- will you be working alone or looking to employ people?
  • Tax- What business tax will you need to pay and will you need to be VAT registered?

A step-by-step checklist for starting a business is available from the Business Link| website.
